Don Schutt
Position title: UW-Madison Ombud
Don Schutt retired in 2018 after more than 23 years of service at UW-Madison. Don held numerous key roles at UW-Madison and after retiring, he returned to serve as Interim Director of Talent Management and HR Change Management Consultant. Previously, as Senior Director of Talent, Don managed the full talent management lifecycle, including learning and talent development, talent acquisition, employee engagement, inclusion initiatives, and Cultural Linguistic Services for English-language learners. These efforts supported approximately 20,000 employees.
Earlier in his career, Don was a career development specialist at the Center on Education and Work in UW-Madison’s School of Education. More recently, he worked as an internal consultant on a short-term project for the Division of University Housing. Don also taught Timetable courses across various departments for over 20 years.
Don holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Counselor Education and Sports Psychology from the University of Iowa, as well as a B.A. in Journalism and Economics from UW-Madison.
